If you’re looking for vintage bathroom ideas for your next project, there are plenty of ways to bring classic vintage style to your new bathroom. From classic cabinetry to period-style brassware, we can help bring traditional style to shower rooms, bathrooms and cloakrooms.
1 – A Traditional Style Roll-Top Bath
A roll-top bath is the absolute epitome of classic vintage style, and makes a great focal-point statement, turning a plain bathroom into a beautifully traditional space. Roll-top baths can be double-ended or single-ended, such as our Abingdon Single-Ended Roll-Top Bath. The flat end can be placed against a wall, or sit just forward of the wall, allowing the standpipes to be visible, for that extra wow factor.
2 – Gold Finish Brushed Brass Taps
One of the key elements of traditional style for taps is to choose designs that have a ceramic grip – it’s an easy way to emphasise that vintage bathroom idea. This is our Cherwell Traditional Brushed Brass Basin Mixer Tap, which has all the contemporary advantages of modern tap design – including long-lasting ceramic disc cartridge construction, combined with stylish lever operation. Bath/shower mixer sets and floor-standing bath tap models are also available.
3 – Vintage Heating Style
Nail the traditional, vintage-style look with a traditional towel radiator. Combining a white panel with a chrome rail looks coordinated with the chrome/white combination chosen for the roll-top bath and chrome feet. The overhanging rail, which projects slightly in front of the main panel, allows towels to be draped and aired without blocking the heat. Available in different sizes, this is the Twelve-Panel size (it has twelve white columns), and it is compatible with all UK hot-water central heating systems.
4 – Traditional Showering Systems
A chrome shower system, such as our Lismore design, teamed with white rectangular tiles (try the Tile Mountain Metro White Wall Tiles) imparts a simple emphasis on vintage style – whether it’s within a shower enclosure or as a part of an over-bath shower set. This is the Lismore Essential Round Thermostatic Shower Set, which has a constant shower temperature and anti-scald technology to ensure an enjoyable shower experience.
5 – Marble-Topped Double Vanity Cabinet
A traditional washstand with a marble top can be picked up in vintage shops and antique stores, but our Lucia Double Vanity with Undermounted Basins is a far easier way of acquiring vintage style for the bathroom – a ready-made cabinet with all mod cods, too! Our double vanity has a marble-style top and upstand, and is shown here with under-mounted basins – but it can be styled with surface-mounted bowl-style basins as well.
6 – Pedestal Basin
A pedestal basin adds a traditional look and is a very classic addition to a vintage-themed bathroom. Whilst contemporary versions are very sleek and streamlined, this traditional style has an angled look, with very definite 1920s and 30s influence. This is our Hudson Traditional Pedestal basin, and a WC with a close-coupled cistern is also available, along with a back-to-wall WC design which is teamed with a cabinet. And if you want a high-level cistern operated with a pull-chain for a very old-fashioned vintage style, to go with the pedestal basin, there’s one available here.
7 – Freestanding Taps
Freestanding taps are another way of emphasising vintage, old-fashioned style in the bathroom. You’ll need to plan ahead, especially if the new bathroom is replacing one with wall-mounted taps and perhaps a bath sitting against a wall, as well as the plumbing will need to be re-arranged. However, it’s definitely worth it to get this beautiful vintage look! This is our Cherwell Chrome Freestanding Bath Shower Mixer Tap, shown alongside the Grosvenor 1700mm roll-top bath with Chrome Claw Feet.
8 – Single Vanity + Close Coupled WC
This is a very simple and neat vintage bathroom layout, with the WC and vanity cabinets next to each other. The room includes classic panelling, which is a very good choice for anyone who likes a change of colour scheme every so often – it’s a very straightforward DIY task to re-paint timber panelling, especially in classic colours, try navy or green as well. Here’s our Lucia cabinet in Chalk White, shown here with a Marble Countertop, also available with a Traditional Basin. The WC is our Hudson Traditional Close Couple Toilet with Chalk White Wooden Seat.
