Whilst we love a colourful scheme, it must be said that often the simplest scheme are the ones that date least and are easiest to attain – such as dramatic black and white concepts. So, we have put together a few of our favourite black and white ideas for your new bathroom…
1 – White Bath + Black Freestanding Tap
This is most definitely a dramatic design choice… our Trent Matt Black Freestanding Bath Shower Mixer Tap is one of the stars of the show, the other is the gorgeous Finsbury 1700mm Freestanding Bath. The Finsbury Bath can be teamed with wall-mounted or a freestanding tap as shown. The Bath Shower Mixer has a matt black finish, and wall-mounted, basin, cloakroom and bath filler options are also available. Team with a simple side table and marble-look porcelain tiles, such as Alaskan Calacatta White Marble Effect tiles from Tile Mountain.
2 – Minimalist Black Waterfall Bath Filler
Our Avon Matt Black Waterfall Wall Mounted Bath Filler definitely adds a touch of contemporary drama to a new bathroom. This clean-cut angular design choice looks magnificent against white and grey marble-style porcelain tiles, and naturally, the bath requires a Standard Bath Pop Up Waste with overflow in Matt Black Finish to continue the monochrome theme. As already mentioned, black and white is a really simple scheme to follow, and if you want a splash of colour, add green plants and/ or colourful towels and toiletries.
3 – A Black Heated Towel Rail
The Barcelona Matt Black Straight Heated Towel Rails adds instant impact (and warmth!) to a bathroom, and when used with the Trent Matt Black Freestanding Bath Shower Mixer Tap the monochrome scheme is perfectly set. Black window frames also upgrade the look to super-contemporary. If you’re re-vamping, rather than installing new windows, it’s possible to paint existing white UPVC frames – try dark grey or black for a bold look – and use the correct paint, of course. Barcelona is available in many different sizes, in Electric and Central Heating versions.
4 – Decorative Monochrome Ideas
Create a monochrome scheme with the clever choice of paint and flooring, which will elevate a plain white bathroom. Paint the window frames and surround, try Dulux Simply Refresh Multi Surface Eggshell in Rich Black, and choose black and white tiles for this look. Our P-shaped Shower Bath and Screen with Rail in white/chrome looks chic and understated, whilst adding a good deal of style to this little bathroom.
5 – A Black Framed Wet Room Panel
Fluted glass is completely on-trend at the moment, and our Munich Fluted Matt Black Framed easy clean wet room shower panel is a highly satisfactory way of creating a monochromatic scheme. The shower equipment should also be in matching matt black, naturally… Try our Premium Matt Black Square Waterfall shower head and mixer set. And once again, this scheme is easy to nail down by choosing white tiles and perhaps a grey tiled floor for a little bit of variation. Take a look at gorgeous grey Lucca Anthracite Anti Slip Matt Stone effect porcelain tiles from Tile Mountain.
6 – A Black and White Mirror
Include some monochromatic drama in the scheme with the simple addition if a perfectly proportioned mirror. Our Olivia Battery Operated Black Framed Illuminated Mirror provides a clear reflection that is just right for a cloakroom or a main bathroom. It has a pull-cord operation and needs no electrical installation. With a black basin and tap combination, the scheme is goof to go! Combine with a white painted ceiling and white floor tiles for sharp contrast.
7 – A Traditional Monochrome Scheme
Bring a very classic look to a new bathroom with a pair of Nene Traditional Basin Taps, teamed with a pedestal basin, such as our Hudson Traditional Pedestal Basin Double Tap Hole, or, if you prefer to use a single-hole mixer tap, a single hole version is available. Black and white tiles are the perfect choice for a traditional look, particularly for a Victorian or Art Deco theme. Take a look at the Linear and Metro collections from Tile Mountain.
8 – Black Panelling + White Furniture
This monochromatic scheme is very striking, with a seamless blend of modern and traditional elements. The traditional elements are provided by the styling of the cabinetry, which is Bermuda in Chalk White with a Marble Style counter top and the black-painted panelling. The Modern elements are provided by the oval shape of the basins – a contemporary version of traditional ‘wash bowls’ which would stand on a cabinet or wash stand, and the sleek circular mirror. Choose between chrome or gold accents.
