Budget Bathroom Ideas

In the run-up to Christmas you may be looking at your bathroom and thinking that it needs an update… but there may not be much spare cash around in the run up to the festivities! You don’t need to spend a fortune to spruce up a dull bathroom. Here are some budget ideas on how to transform your bathroom on a budget, perhaps with a view to getting down to business in the New Year!

1 – A Budget Bathroom Bath Caddy

Sometimes it only takes a small accessory, such as our gorgeous Bamboo Bath Caddy, to spruce up the bathroom. In this case, it can clear some bits and bobs away from the countertop as well as adding a very stylish look to bath time. Just the right addition for soaking away those post x-mas January blues! Just add a glass of something sparkly and a beautiful scented candle…

2 – A Set of New Bath Taps

For under £100, replace the bath taps, giving the bath a very new sleek and shiny look. These are from our Avon collection, and of course, there’s also a wall mounted option as well as a bath-shower mixer set. A tap replacement is straightforward, providing you choose ‘like for like’ designs that can be installed the same way as the previous ones. A waterfall design looks very contemporary and dramatic – just the job for a stylish update.

3 – A Gold Shower Screen

Update a standard bath by upgrading to a shower bath. This is our Zurich Brushed Brass Framed Bath Screen, which is 800mm wide. It provides protection from shower spray and of course, the Brushed Brass finish gives a very swish look to the bathroom. If you’re planning to upgrade standard bath taps, think about going for the further upgrade to an over-bath shower set. As the bath isn’t being moved and the taps remain in the same position, this can be a straightforward task, plumbing-wise.

4 – A Heated Towel Rail

A heated rail, such as our Barcelona Brushed Brass Straight Heated Towel Rail, is an affordable update that also brings a very luxurious feel to the bathroom. Heated towel rails can be regarded as a statement in the bathroom, especially if a gold or black colour finish is chosen. This is the 1600mmx500mm version, it’s also available in black and anthracite and a whole host of sizes and variations. Whether you want a central-heating run version or an electric version (which can be installed in addition to a central-heating version), there’s a size and format to suit all bathrooms. Stay cosy!

5 – Add a Wall Cabinet

Extra storage space can be the real solution to transforming the bathroom on a budget. You may already have a vanity cabinet, or perhaps a wall cabinet, but utilising a bit of wall space can really help clear the surfaces and provide some much needed storage space. Take a look at our Corsica Bali cabinets. The white gloss finishes can work with almost any colour scheme, and will add a very contemporary look. This slimline cabinet is just 350mm wide, and could even be added to a small cloakroom space.

A striped hand towel hangs from a black circular hook beside the cabinet.

6 – Upgrade Your Radiators

The bathroom can be transformed on a budget by replacing standard radiators, and of course, it doesn’t have to be the bathroom – consider updating the radiators in adjoining rooms too. Column radiators are a modern classic, and can bring a whole new look to a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen or living room. Go for a different finish if you’re replacing white radiators, to make a new style statement. Our Athens Anthracite Triple Column radiators, 1800x470mm, looks elegant and is great contrast standing against a marble-tiled wall.

The floor features a decorative black and white patterned rug.

7 – A New Shower

Adding a new shower to the bathroom can really refresh the look, especially if you move to a brushed brass finish to replace a past-it’s-best chrome set. Once again, replacing like with like is the key to avoiding too much plumbing work. And for a very budget refresh, give all the tiles areas a really good clean as well. Most tiled areas can look a whole lot brighter and better after a spray and a scrub – pay attention to any grout lines for extra oomph.

8 – Replace the Shower Enclosure

Renewing a shower enclosure is a little more of an investment, but can really upgrade a tired-looking bathroom. Competent DIY-ers could consider making space for a larger tray, perhaps exchanging a square or quadrant model for a rectangular design that provides a bit more elbow room! This is our Hamburg Matt Black sliding door shower enclosure – the black frame adds a very contemporary style to the bathroom. Various sizes are available, so there will be something to suit all floor plans, this particular size is 1000mmx760mm.
